Why Training Online?

Online Training, sometimes known as e-learning, is a new technology that addresses some of the fundamental challenges of training.  Most companies recognise the need for, and indeed the government encourages, training as a major driver for business improvement.  However there are a number of major challenges faced by the employer.

In a successful business, finding time for training is difficult.  And the more senior the trainee the more he or she will find it difficult to allocate time for personal development.  This is particularly true of senior practitioners in the professions such as the law, accountancy and engineering etc.

Despite the recognition that training is a necessary component of successful business development, companies also find it difficult to allocate the requisite amount budget; and it is axiomatic that poor training is worse than no training.

And when companies do find a suitable training partner, the location or timetable often do not fit the immediate requirements of the business.  It is extremely common that training is identified as part of the appraisal process but that suitable courses are not available for several weeks or even months.  This can lead to demotivation and even to the loss of an employee under certain circumstances.

And the biggest problem with selecting suitable training is the question of measuring how much of the learned material is actually retained by course delegates after they return to the workplace.  Most studies imply that the rate of retention is frighteningly low.  But with e-Learning, because delegates can learn in their own time and at their own pace they do much better than when they are on formal training courses.
